How do you become a firefighter?
The Five Mile Point Fire Company along with every other Volunteer Company is always looking for new firefighters to help us continue the service we provide to the community. You need no prior experience to be a firefighter because we provide you with all the training you will need. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please stop down to Station1 at 16 Crescent Drive on any Monday morning from 9-11 AM, Wednesday night from 6-PM or anytime you see one of our firefighters there and they will explain the application process.
Five Mile Point Fire Company is an equal opportunity employer and membership is open to any men or women as long as they meet the following requirements
Applicants must be at least 16 year old at the time they submit the application
Applicants must be a resident of the Town Of Kirkwood or live within a reasonable distance of our
protection district. This will be determined by our Board of Directors.
Applicant is required to take and pass an OSHA Physical, this is at no cost to you.
Once you submit your application, along with the $5 application fee, it will be read at the next Monthly Business Meeting that is held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. The application will be tabled until the next Business Meeting at which time the applicant, with the approval of the Chief, will be voted on by the Fire Company members that are present at the meeting . During the time between when the application is read and voted on, the applicant is encouraged to attend trainings so we can see your commitment and get to know you.
